Psalm 94-2.2.22

Scripture

Psalm 94: 18-19

18  When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your unfailing love, Lord, supported me. 19  When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.

Observation-What does it say?

Here is a breakdown of this Psalm, according to David Guzik’s commentary on enduringword.com. The verses I chose focus on God’s comfort for His people.

-Recognizing God as judge of the earth (vs. 1-3)

-Recognizing the rebellion of the wicked (vs. 4-7)

-Rebuking the senseless rebels (vs. 8-11)

-Consolation for God’s people-they will never be cast off (vss. 12-15)

**Comfort for God’s people-God will help them. (vss. 16-19)

-Cover for God’s people-God is their defense. (Vss. 20-23).

Understanding-What does it mean?

God’s love is unfailing and He always provides comfort and help for His people.

2022 didn’t start off great for our family. We started our year in grief, mourning the loss of the Khans as our beloved Senior Pastors at DSC. Then, both of my parents got Covid and my dad was struggling with it. Then, my whole family got Covid (myself, husband and 2 kids) and we were all down for 2 weeks! I couldn’t even be at church in person for the Khan’s last 2 Sundays. : (

Despite the craziness emotionally, mentally, and physically, I’m thankful that we were still healthy spiritually, thanks to the Lord, our amazing family and church family! We made it through the start of a crazy year because of the Lord’s unfailing love and comfort.

Life Application

God will always provide comfort to us in our greatest time of need. Always run to Him first!

One thing about grief AND sickness is that you are completely down. There is nothing we could offer to God in deep sadness and pain, except for our tears. However, as we run to Him completely for comfort and safety, we in turn would be able to comfort others in need, with the same comfort we have received by Him. One of my favorite life verses is:

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.” -2 Corinthians 1:3-5 NIV

As we draw comfort from the Lord, who in turn can we comfort with the same comfort we have received from Him?

Psalm 93-2.1.22

Scripture

Psalm 93

1 The LORD reigns, he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed in majesty and armed with strength; indeed, the world is established, firm and secure.

2 Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.

3 The seas have lifted up, LORD, the seas have lifted up their voice; the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.

4 Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea—the LORD on high is mighty.

5 Your statutes, LORD, stand firm; holiness adorns your house for endless days.

Observation-What does it say?

This short psalm emphasizes three major points: God reigns, He is greater than our circumstances, and He always keeps His word. (Warren Wiersbe BE Bible Study Series)

Understanding-What does it mean?

Raging seas and pounding waves – the Bible uses these terms to describe struggles and hardship. What should we do when the storms are raging around us?

When the tempest is around us, we look by faith to the throne of grace above us and the Word of God before us. The truth about what is going on in this world is not in the newspapers but in the Scriptures.” Amen!!

I heard a great, new song at Worship Wednesday this week that keeps playing in my head (Firm Foundation - you can listen here: https://youtu.be/uOP4s8fOEm0).

“Rain came, winds blew, but my house was built on You.”

Are we building our house on the firm foundation of God’s word? So we have somewhere to run to when the winds blow? Are we putting our faith in the God who is mightier than the thunder of the great waters? “Do not focus on the threats around you; focus on the throne above you.”

Life Application

Almighty God, you reign. You are clothed in majesty and strength. Your statutes stand firm. You are my firm foundation, the rock on which I stand!

Psalm 92-1.31.22

Scripture

Psalms 92:4 NLT

“You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done.”

‬‬

Observation-What does it say?

This psalm was specifically written to be sung on the Sabbath Day. It is a psalm of thanksgiving and speaks of God’s goodness and faithfulness.

Understanding-What does it mean?

Throughout all the good and bad times, God is faithful and good. He is worthy of our praise!

“Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord! Praise the Lord!” -Psalms‬ ‭150:6‬

“You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.” -Revelation‬ ‭4:11
‬ ‭

Looking back on my life, I can see God’s fingerprints all over it. What’s funny is I see it more now in the roughest parts of my life. When at the time I may have felt God abandoning me or punishing me for being such a sinful man, I see now that God was using those moments to mold me into the man I am today. God’s grace and faithfulness towards me, a lowly sinner is proof of his mercy and goodness! Sure we can all give God praise and a “shout out” when things are going well for us. But can we give God praise when things aren’t? Let me remind you that God is faithful. God is good. He is worthy of our praise no matter what! So whenever you hit that storm in your life, remember God’s faithfulness and goodness. Trust He is using that moment to make you stronger and molding you more into His image. Praise God for the works and miracles He is about to do in your life!

Life Application

Take a moment today and reflect on God’s goodness and faithfulness. Give Him praise!

Here is a psalm I would love to share with you all today that has a special meaning for our family.

I will exalt you, Lord, for you lifted me out of the depths and did not let my enemies gloat over me. Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me. You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit. Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people; praise his holy name. For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”-Psalms‬ ‭30:1-5‬ ‭NIV

-Moses Gaddi‭‭‬‬
