Revelation 15. 10.30.25
SCRIPTURE: Revelation 15:2-4
“And I saw what looked like a sea of glass glowing with fire
and standing beside the sea—those who had been victorious
over the beast and its image and over the number of its name.
They held harps given them by God
and sang the song of God’s servant Moses and of the Lamb:
“Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty.
Just and true are your ways, King of the nations.
Who will not fear you, Lord, and bring glory to your name?
For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you,
for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
OBSERVATION
Before this last Judgment falls we see God’s victorious redeemed Saints—
as they appear beside or on “a sea of glass mixed with fire”. These are believers who have remained faithful to Jesus through the most difficult trials of the Antichrist—
they “Conquered the beast—by clinging to Christ in Life and in death”. Now they are standing in the very Presence of our Reigning Lord and Singing Worship and Praise to Him.
John SEES this Future Victory in its Fullness. He sees people who have been victorious over one of the most evil and challenging times that will ever test believers.
And we are told they conquered the test…how—by—clinging to Christ.
They are singing a song referenced to both the song of Moses and the song of the Lamb because there is a common theme. They both bring Praise and Glory to the One and Only Sovereign God—Victorious—Holy—worthy of All Praise!
“Let everything that has breath—-Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!” (Psalm 150:6)
“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” (Rev 4:11)
“Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised—HIS greatness is unsearchable.” (Psalm 145:3)
Jesus answered, “I tell you, if these were silent—the very stones would cry out.” (Luke 19:40)
APPLICATION
Heaven is Filled with Praise and Worship for God—Worship like Heaven- Does!
What can we learn from this passage in Revelation 15 about worship?
Again and again, in the book of Revelation, we see that in heaven God’s people actively sing His praise. Worship is a very important component of what we will be doing there. In heaven, God will be worshiped in the right way as He wants to be worshiped. Therefore, it is useful to study carefully the content of the songs recorded.
Here are a few key observations about the worship we see in this passage:
• It is very God-centric.
• It mentions what He has done (Great and amazing are your deeds).
• It mentions the goodness of His actions (Just and true are your ways).
• It mentions who He is. God’s character is described and praised.
• It encourages everyone to join in praise.
Reflection: How can I become a better worshipper of God?
God deserves my Praise and Worship
Praise and Worship involves my words, my whole heart, my surrender.
I’m not the best singer but God asks me to sing a new song to Him. You probably won’t hear my voice at church as I sing on the softer side most times. But at home I’ll sing a new song to Him.
Worship and Praise is more than music.
As Pastors Levi and Katie have been reminding us, our tithes, offering, and gifts are part of our worship. And pleasing to God when done with a surrendered heart.
Our serving is part of our worship.
Our very lives should be living worship to God in all we are and everything we do.
Paul said that our lives are a letter written from Christ showing the result of the ministry in our lives. This letter is not written with pen and ink or carved on stone,
but rather it is written by the Holy Spirit on our human hearts. (2 Corinthians 3:3)
“Whenever the living beings give glory and honor and thanks
to the ONE sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever),
the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the ONE sitting on the throne
(the one who lives forever and ever).
And they cast their crowns before the throne and say,
“You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power.
For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.””
(Revelation 4:9-11)
