Proverbs 10 - 7.21.25
Scripture
Proverbs 10:25 NIV
“When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever.”
Observation
In these proverbs that King Solomon writes, he compares and contrasts the ways of the wicked/foolish, to the ways of the godly/wise.
Application
On Christ the solid rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand.
It’s one of the lyrics from my favorite Hymns that I would sing in church. It’s a great reminder to any of us out there who put our faith in Christ that we can weather any storm that life throws our way because we are standing on solid ground. While others put their faith in things like their wealth, their careers, their home, their friends and family, and yes, even their political leaders, they fail to realize that those things soon fade away. Those things will fail you. But our God never fails. He remains faithful and true. He has kept His promises to His children since the times of Abraham and Moses. He has kept them since the times of David. And I KNOW God still keeps his promises today! God may not always deliver me from a difficult situation, but He sure does empower me with the strength and endurance, as He walks me through it.
So who or what do you put your trust in? Is it something that soon fades? If so, may I encourage you to put your faith in Jesus. He has conquered death and the grave. He is eternal and He will never fail you.
““Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”” -Matthew 7:24-27
Prayer
I know this is the point of our SOAP Journal where I would usually write out a prayer, but today I wanted to do something a little different. I wanted to share with you all the lyrics of one of my favorite hymns. I hope you hold on to these lyrics and words in your hearts today. God bless you all! ❤️
1 My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
but wholly lean on Jesus' name.
Refrain:
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand:
all other ground is sinking sand;
all other ground is sinking sand.
2 When darkness veils his lovely face,
I rest on his unchanging grace;
in every high and stormy gale,
my anchor holds within the veil. [Refrain]
3 His oath, his covenant, his blood,
support me in the whelming flood;
when all around my soul gives way,
he then is all my hope and stay. [Refrain]
4 When he shall come with trumpet sound,
O may I then in him be found:
dressed in his righteousness alone,
faultless to stand before the throne. [Refrain]
-Moses Gaddi
