Luke 12 - 9.12.25

Scripture: Luke 12:27-31

27 Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! 29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

Observation

Jesus is speaking with his disciples and he is encouraging them not to worry about their lives and material things. That God loves them so much, much more than the birds and the flowers and he takes care of them. Our lives are much more than food and our body is much more than clothing. He is encouraging them to seek His Kingdom FIRST, then all these things will be given to them.

Application

God has walked me through so many things in my life and when I sit and remember how He showed up and supplied all my needs…it brings me to my knees. When my husband Michael passed away, I could not afford to live alone in my house (Mobile Home). I had too many bills and could not see a way to pay them all. But I did not lose heart, I was in the Word every day, praying scripture over my life. I was praising and thanking Him ahead of time for what he was going to do for me. I stood on these scriptures and reminded God that if he could take care of the birds and the flowers, then how much more he would take care of me. I would remind God every day that I was the “Apple of His Eye” and that He had Good Plans for me. I would recite Jeremiah 29:11 every day. (11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future). I would not allow myself to look at my circumstances, I would just Thank God for His Faithfulness. Day by day God showed up in miraculous ways…money would show up in the mail, God opened the door to have an older man stay in one of my other bedrooms and help with my expenses. My homeless son received a debit card for groceries but couldn’t use very much of it because he had no where to prepare the food. I went and got all the food and then I would make meals for me and take him meals. I even had enough to make extra to help the older man who was living in my house.

I found myself waking up every day excited to see what God was going to do today! One of my favorite verses I used to recite…

Ephesians 3:20 (NKJ) - Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

I also had so much Joy bubbling up out of me during that time…I laid all my cares and worries on the Lord and He took care of me!

Prayer

Dear Lord, I can never thank you enough for always walking me through these hard trials of my life. You have never left me or forsaken me and you keep your promises to me. Help me to always Trust You in all things and KNOW that You love me more than the birds and the flowers and You will do exceedingly, abundantly more than I can ask or think. You deserve all my praise and worship! You are an Awesome God! Amen
