Ephesians 5 - 11.5.26

SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 5:8-14

'For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. This is why it is said: “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

OBSERVATION

This little light of mine, I am going to let it shine!

In fact, it NEEDS to shine!

Really read this passage, read it over and once more this morning and let the Holy Spirit touch you with the true miracle and gift it is to be in Christ and to have life in Him, to carry a light that does not just exist, but it exists with a purpose. This passage says that with our light that exists when we are IN Christ, sends us to be lights in the darkness.

For once we were darkness, but because of Christ in us, we live as light IN the Lord! This is our testimony. And because of this light we have the power and the responsibility to bring it into places of darkness and live as a witness that can change atmospheres, wake sleepers up, and heal what has been hurting in the dark for a long time.

So let this passage remind you today of what you carry and the purpose of what you carry in this world. You my friend, carry, the light of Christ because of your positioning in CHrist AND that light, has the gifting and power to be an impactful and atmosphere shifting presence. You don’t need to scramble or strive to have an impact in a space when you abide in Christ and live as a witness to the light and life of Jesus that is within you.

Application:

Remembrance of what Christ has brought you from in your old self and what He has promised to you in your new life helps us to live in what we are “re-born” to carry! Reminisce on what His life in you fuels, what does He bring into us that exudes light? Remember!

As a response to this passage, meditate on this piece of scripture - write it down fully, read it over and over again, and note on paper and in your mind/heart that you are a new creation. You are light in Christ. You are loved and born again.

Prayer:

Jesus,

Thank you for who I am in you. Thank you that it is not in my own efforts that i have an impact, but it is rather you within me that changes atmospheres and fuels me to live as a light throughout all my days.

Teach me to love like you.

Teach me to live within you.

Teach me to shine my light today.

Amen
