Our identity as human beings, made in the image of God, is constantly being deconstructed.  Many believers have lost sight or have been fooled by the current thinking regarding who they are.  It is appropriate to remind ourselves of who we are IN CHRIST.

Please feel free to give your tithes and offerings here at our secure website.

We consider it our privilege to pray for you during the week.  Take a moment to share your prayer requests with us so we can be praying specifically for you.  AND when God answers your prayers will you take a moment to share those stories with us as well.

“When you are in Christ, all that is true of Him changes what is true of you.”

  1. In Christ, I am a new person.
  • 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

Four huge changes..

My relationship with God.

I go from having no relationship with God to that relationship being the most important thing in my life. My whole life reoriented around God.

My character

People should be noticing a change in your behavior because hanging out with Jesus will change your character.

My relationships with others

Every relationship in your life must come under the influence of Jesus’ leadership, and because of that, it gets better.

My calling

Following Jesus changes who I am and what I do in the world.

I become part of something much larger than myself—the Kingdom of God.

In Christ, I am called to serve God and serve people—every Christian is!

  • Romans 12:1-2 (NIV) 1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship. 2  Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.

  • John 15:4-5 (CEV) 4 Stay joined to me, and I will stay joined to you. Just as a branch cannot produce fruit unless it stays joined to the vine, you cannot produce fruit unless you stay joined to me. 5  I am the vine, and you are the branches. If you stay joined to me, and I stay joined to you, then you will produce lots of fruit. But you cannot do anything without me.

Stay connected to Jesus, and you will grow into all that is true of you in Christ.

  1. In Christ, I am dead to sin and alive to God
  • Romans 6:1-4 (NIV) 1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Sin has no mastery over a dead person—they are unresponsive.

Here is Paul’s conclusion:

  • Romans 6:11-12 (NIV) 11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12  Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.

You are in Christ.  What is true of Him is true of you.

You are dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ.

The big goal isn’t just being dead to sin, but being alive to God.

  1. In Christ, I am created for good works.
  • Ephesians 2:10 (NLT2) For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

You are God’s masterpiece, and He made you with a plan, with good works that only you can do.
